Evan co-founded Shames Makovsky Realty Company in 1971 with his partner, and uncle, Motty Shames. He has sold, leased, developed, and funded many notable projects, some of which include the Sage Building, Marriott Residence Inn, the historic Colorado Business Bank building, and the Mapleton Distribution Center.
 
Working with Motty, Evan took Shames Makovsky Realty Company from a small industrial brokerage firm to a full-service commercial realty company offering brokerage, development, property management, and lending.
 
Evan obtained a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and a Masters of Science in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Denver. In 2007, he was named Honorary Dean of Real Estate and Construction Management of the Franklin G. Burns School of Real Estate and Construction Management in 2007. Evan was given an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from Johnson and Wales University in 2008.
 
Evan is a member or director of numerous community and civic boards. He has three grown children and lives with his wife in the Denver area.
